About The Bean

The Bean Play Café is a welcoming place where children can explore, families can connect and grown-ups can enjoy a good coffee and a moment to relax.

Our promise—Play • Connect • Relax—shapes everything we do. From imaginative play and creative activities to quality café favourites and family celebrations, we bring together experiences that make a visit enjoyable for the whole family. We want children to feel curious and confident, and parents and caregivers to feel comfortable, included and cared for.

We believe our people will make the difference. Thoughtful spaces and engaging activities set the scene; our team brings The Bean to life. It happens through a warm welcome, remembering a favourite drink, helping a hesitant child join an activity or noticing when a family needs a little extra support.

We are looking for people who take pride in those moments: people who are attentive, dependable, playful and ready to help. Whatever your role, you will contribute to a safe environment, thoughtful service and a business that families want to return to.

At The Bean, everyone hosts, everyone sells and everyone supports. That means making people feel welcome, recommending experiences they will enjoy and helping colleagues deliver on our promise—with safety and service always coming first.

Your role

Joining The Bean means helping build something from the beginning. As part of our pioneering team, you will help shape our culture, bring ideas to life and create the experiences that families associate with The Bean.

Every team member contributes to our success and plays an active part in growing our community. We are looking for outgoing, approachable people who enjoy starting conversations, connecting with families and making others feel included. You should be willing to take initiative, support colleagues and represent The Bean with confidence and enthusiasm.

Your role will also include opportunities to take The Bean beyond the café through external events, pop-ups, private celebrations and community activities. Depending on your role and training, you may help set up an event, welcome guests, serve café favourites, promote our experiences or lead entertainment.

Working with the founders and management team, you will have a voice in how we improve and grow. As the business expands, there will be opportunities to develop new skills and take on greater responsibility, based on your contribution, readiness and business needs.

What you will do

  • Build relationships with children and caregivers, helping families feel recognised, included and excited to return.
  • Contribute ideas for games, workshops, celebrations and community activities.
  • Take part in external events, pop-ups and private celebrations, leading assigned games and activities once trained.
  • Bring confidence, energy and enthusiasm to engaging groups while maintaining clear safety boundaries.
  • Help shape The Bean’s entertainment experience as a member of our pioneering team.
  • Monitor the assigned zone actively, apply age and play rules respectfully, manage occupancy and intervene early.
  • Check the play area before use, isolate damage or contamination, and report hazards and incidents promptly.
  • Deliver approved activities, workshops, discovery moments and party segments with suitable materials and clear instructions.
  • Support authorised entry and exit controls; escalate missing-child, injury or collection concerns immediately and preserve supervision.
  • Reset activity materials and seating, clear tables away from the active zone, serve sealed or approved items and support POS after training.
  • Explain suitable workshops, return visits, parties and memberships to caregivers; refer detailed bookings to the sales host. Recommend only when coverage and child safety allow.

What you bring

  • Confidence engaging children and families: You are outgoing, approachable and comfortable starting conversations, welcoming newcomers and encouraging participation.
  • Energy with sound judgement: You can create excitement while staying alert, maintaining boundaries and putting safety first.
  • Creativity and activity skills: You enjoy leading games, storytelling, discovery activities and celebrations, adapting your approach to different ages and confidence levels.
  • A community-minded approach: You build relationships with children and caregivers, helping families feel recognised and eager to return.
  • Confidence beyond the café: You are willing to work at external events, pop-ups and private celebrations, leading assigned activities once trained.
  • Practical event readiness: You understand that memorable events depend on preparation, equipment care, setup, resets and pack-down as well as engaging delivery.
  • Commercial confidence: You can explain suitable workshops, parties and memberships to caregivers and pass opportunities to the right colleague.
  • Flexibility and ambition: You are ready to support café hospitality, contribute ideas and learn new responsibilities as part of The Bean’s pioneering team.
  • Experience in children’s activities, parties, camps, leisure or hospitality is welcome. Applicants with the right attitude, judgement and potential may be considered without direct play-café experience.
